We are seeking a highly skilled Freelance Social Video Editor to join our dynamic team at The Mel Robbins Podcast. This individual will be instrumental in producing compelling video content tailored for social media platforms, inspiring and motivating millions of people around the world with every clip.

As a Freelance Social Video Editor, you must have a sharp eye for trends, storytelling, and visual aesthetics. Your primary focus will be on creating engaging short-form videos designed for platforms like TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and more. You will collaborate closely with the social media team and Post Production team to bring creative concepts to life while maintaining brand consistency and quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Social Media Responsibilities  
    • Create and edit short-form, engaging video content optimized for platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
    • Collaborate with the social media team to brainstorm and execute on-trend, impactful content ideas.
    • Develop attention-grabbing video trailers, teasers, and promotional content tailored for various audiences.
    • Experiment with innovative video editing techniques to stay ahead of social media trends.
    • Actively participate in content planning sessions, aligning with overall social strategies.
    • Maintain a consistent, high-quality output of short-form videos to meet publishing schedules.
  • Brand and Podcast Content Responsibilities
    • Edit long-form, 3-camera podcast interviews, crafting visually engaging sequences for YouTube and social platforms.
    • Incorporate music, dialogues, graphics, and effects to enhance storytelling.
    • Repurpose podcast content into short, snackable clips suitable for social media.
    • Collaborate on new footage ideas to further expand the brand’s visual storytelling.
    • Ensure all video content aligns with brand standards and resonates with the audience.
  • General Responsibilities
    • Consult with stakeholders throughout the production and post-production processes
    • Maintain an organized file library and archive for all content.
    • Stay informed about social media best practices and trends to continuously improve content strategies.

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of video editing experience, with a focus on creating social media content.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro (knowledge of the full Adobe Creative Suite is a plus).
  • Experience with Descript is a bonus.
  • Strong familiarity with social media platforms and their unique content requirements (e.g., TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts).
  • Deep understanding of and experience with personal brand, the self-development space, and working with thought leaders.
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality, engaging short-form videos.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a creative flair for storytelling.
  • Ability to collaborate in a vibrant team environment while taking independent initiative.
  • Comfortable managing multiple tasks and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Bonus: Experience with filming and production equipment.
  • A passion for personal growth and the topics shared on The Mel Robbins Podcast.
  • Team player motivated by the positive impact of your work on others.
  • Preference is given to Boston-based candidates, but will consider remote for the right fit.
